Ora Nissim is an Israeli artist who was raised in Mea Shearim, a neighborhood of Jerusalem primarily inhabited by Haredi Jews. Her parents saw her developing skill and made the decision to send her abroad to the Lebozar Art Academy in France to further refine her talent, as there were no art schools in Israel for religious women. Due to the language barrier (Nissim did not understand French nor English), Nissim often misinterpreted assignments but would over time develop her own unique and special style of artistry.
Nissim’s paintings breathe life into what most see as the constrictive laws of Judaism. She shows the light, the joy, and the connection between each Jew and God.
