Artist Feature: Gitty Fuchs

Hi Everybody!

We’re back with another featured artist post! Today, we’re looking at Gitty Fuchs and a recent set of her paintings which recently came into the gallery. Gitty made aliyah when she was 9 and has a deep connection to Israel. She learned directly from artists and now has art world-wide in both private and public connections.

The first piece I want to look at is Splitting of the Sea. Her artwork is abstract, leaning towards cool colors and a white and gold color scheme. These two colors represent purity/holiness and royalty, respectively. Something I really like about this painting is how the viewer cannot tell if the Jewish people are entering or leaving the Red Sea.

The second piece is titled “Torah’s Reception”. Much like Splitting of the Sea, it operates with a cool gradient of colors, moving from pale whites and golds on the inside to darker blacks and grays on the outside.

Finally, let’s look at Kever Rachel. In every depiction, the tomb of Rachel always brings a sense of home. One of the eternal matriarchs of Judaism, the Zohar says that when Mashiach comes, the Jewish people will walk down the road which passes by her grave.
